The Character

Personality: Although he's known to be a violent fighter, Kenpachi's actions tend to be for the best. He has a very poor sense of direction. Kenpachi lives for battle and enjoys a good fight more than anything. He even holds back in an effort to make any fight last longer. He also claims that injury and death are nothing but the price one pays for a good fight.

On multiple occasions, Kenpachi has shown to greatly respect those who can defeat him in a fight and to those who can push him to his limit. Ever since Maverick handed him his first known loss (Read history to understand more about this), he has expressed his willingness to engage him in a rematch every time they meet. Each time Kenpachi challenges Maverick to a rematch, he continues to get beaten no matter how hard he tries. But he continues to challenge him to rematches, and has repeated to countless people that he will try until he dies. Though Kenpachi and Maverick fight every time the encounter one another, they consider themselves friends and brothers.

Kenpachi also strongly believes that fun comes before working. In every battle, he tries to get as much enjoyment out of it as possible. But when Kenpachi isn't busy fighting or giving orders to his Crew, you will most likely always fine him taking an afternoon nap.

It seems that Kenpachi sometimes contradicts his own logic in fighting. On the one hand, Kenpachi wishes to increase his own personal power. On the other hand, he conceals his strength to enjoy a fight for as long as possible. Irrational to a certain extent, Kenpachi is one of the most complex Marines in pretty much all the Four Blues, as he exhibits a wide range of traits, being: lethargic, bloodthirsty, rebellious, empathetic, and wise.

Hometown: Lower Levels of Elata
History: Kenpachi was born in the lower reaches of the city Elata, where he was forced to fend for himself and learn how to defend himself against the harshness of the life he was born into.
Kenpachi was born naturally with the hell-bent heart on mastering the art of the sword. Kenpachi one day found himself upon a Wooden Sword. Though it was already warn out and seemed ready to break at any moment, Kenpachi took it up and make great use of it. With this Wooden Sword, Kenpachi began to practice his thrusts, Swipes, Stabbing motions, and his Swinging speed. Though Kenpachi had a habit of over-working himself to the point of Exhaustion, he never once stopped Grinning. Kenpachi would always have the biggest, most Taunting and Enraging Grin on his face that always drove people to a Blood-Boil.
Kenpachi would always have to fight for any chance at getting food or even something as simple as wearable clothing. Once Kenpachi comes across any sign of food, there would already be a gang of people there ready to snatch it for themselves. Kenpachi and his Wooden Sword would somehow always end on top against the bloody fight for something as simple as food or clothing. But Kenpachi and the rest of the low-lives in the Lower Levels of Elata do not take Food or Clothing lightly. They will kill to get their greasy hands on any type of food or clothes.

At the age of 15, Kenpachi came across yet another fight for some food, and again coming out on top with little to no injuries. A man that witnessed the fight, confronted him and offered him a Job as a Bounty Hunter. After the Man Explained what Kenpachi's Job would be, he did nothing but grow his taunting Grin and nod.
For several years, Kenpachi was titled, "The Blood Hound", simply because there wasn't a single Bounty he could not finish. No matter how hard the people of South Blue or any of the other Blues of even the Open Seas tried to hide or fight back, Kenpachi always found them, and always brought them in to collect his Bounty, Dead or Alive...

After awhile, Kenpachi was confronted with a Job by the Marine Fort to hunt down a group of Pirates that have been plaguing the lands of Alsta in the North Blue. Kenpachi without thought accepted the Job and began to make his way to the frozen wastes of Alsta in the North Blue. Once Kenpachi made his land at the frozen hell's, he was attacked by a very large party of Pirates that were waiting for him.
Kenpachi, the Blood Thirsty, Battle Hungry crazed man he is, simply grinned and fought off most of the simple Pirates. After awhile, he was then confronted by a couple of Pirates who had consumed Devil Fruits, thus making the battle more difficult for Kenpachi. But that is not how he saw it. Kenpachi did not think that it make the battle more Difficult, but more "Entertaining", and, "Exciting".
After a large battle between Kenpachi and the Pirates with the Devil Fruits, Kenpachi finally found himself at the peek of victory. At this time, Kenpachi wasn't even using all of his Strength, he was just playing along trying to keep the "Fun" going for as long as he possibly could. After the fight was over, he was confronted by a very large Marine that went by the name of Captain. Maverick El Gitchet, who carried a rusty sword with him.
As Kenpachi stood there surrounded by the small army of Pirates, Maverick gazed at him and then broke out into a laugh.
"My My! You put on quite the show!" Maverick spoke as he continued to laugh.
Kenpachi, confused by the Marines sudden laughter, decided to attack the Marine without thinking and began to laugh himself.
As Kenpachi attacked the Marine Captain, Maverick simply laughed and went along with the fight.
After each time their swords clashed, Maverick's attacks seemed to get stronger and stronger and faster and faster with each passing moment.
After awhile, Kenpachi began to find himself at a disadvantage while holding back, so Kenpachi was forced to go full strength against Maverick.
Once Kenpachi released his full potential, Maverick simply laughed and showed the darker side of his power. Maverick then revealed a very Taunting and Unreasonably Angering Grin, and began to release a intense sign of energy that wasn't visible to the human eye, but was so powerful that Kenpachi could feel the energy radiating off of Maverick.
As both the swordsmen charged at each other with a large amount of energy releasing off of them and their swords clashed for the final time, Kenpachi found himself defeated for the first time in his history of wielding a sword.
While Kenpachi laid defeated, Maverick spoke a simple sentence to him, "Go home. Rest up. Train and become Stronger. And maybe, Just maybe, you will grow to be Strong enough to defeat me one day.". As Maverick spoke those words, he set his sword down next to Kenpachi along with the Bounty Money then had his Marine Soldiers pack up the Pirates and ship them off to the Marine Fort.

The Kenpachi of today has grown a lot Stronger, and has also become a Captain in the ranks of the Marines. He has also encountered Maverick countless times over and over again and has challenged him to a rematch but has always found himself defeated again and again. But no matter how many times Kenpachi is defeated, he will continue to fight, and continue to become stronger so he may defeat Maverick in a fight.

Note ~ This move lasts 5 turns, but once the 5 turns are complete, Kenpachi receives a -20% Penalty to his Speed, and a -30% Penalty to his Physical Strength
Note ~ If this ability is used in a fight, Kenpachi becomes Exhausted once the Battle is over and must wait for 3 days before being allowed to fight with any level 40 ranked moves.

Description: After Kenpachi releases his Over-Powering Energy, he can then use up most of his energy to cause a massive overly destructive strike that is built up of 70% of his energy. Once Kenpachi releases this energy into a strike from his sword, it releases a large shock wave of energy that consumes and destroys anything within a 7 mile radius.
